About Me

Hi, I’m Mike Cotter — a teacher, tutor, licensed attorney, and lifelong learner who loves helping students find clarity, confidence, and structure in high-stakes academic work.

I graduated summa cum laude in History from Harvard in 2014, where I served as Editorial Chair of the Harvard Crimson and worked at the Harvard Writing Center; earned my J.D. from Yale Law School in 2017; and have taught full-time for nearly a decade — currently AP European History, American History, and AP Macroeconomics at a top-notch public high school in Massachusetts. I’ve tutored law students in black-letter law and bar prep, helped high schoolers master AP content and DBQs, and coached college applicants and college students on writing that cuts through the noise.

I’ve worked with top scorers looking for polish, anxious test-takers who needed structure and encouragement, and students who had no idea where to start. I love all of it — especially the moment when someone realizes they really can master something they once found overwhelming.

I live with my wife, our two kids, four dogs, and our flock of chickens on a small farm in Massachusetts. Teaching, parenting, and farming have all taught me the same lesson: real progress comes from steady effort, honest feedback, and learning to keep your balance under pressure.
